German influencers play football on Twitch, set signs against World Cup in Qatar - viewers complain Paywall

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is overshadowed by discussions about human rights in the desert state. Many people want to boycott the sporting event. On November 20, a German Twitch streamer quickly organized a football tournament to offer an alternative to the World Cup.

What kind of event was that? The German Twitch streamer Freiaumreh is primarily concerned with current political issues and offers discussion and talk formats with their guests.

On September 30, Freiaehreh announced that it would like to organize an alternative to the World Cup in Qatar. Football enthusiasts should have the opportunity to enjoy sport on the opening day of the World Cup without supporting the controversial event.

After weeks of preparation, it was finally time on November 20: 28 personalities from Twitch and YouTube competed against each other in time for the World Cup start in Qatar.

Who was there? Freeware was able to win influencers and streamers from very different areas for their event. At the start were the YouTuber Oliver Alphabetic Gut he, the former caretaker of Contract Spandau, Daniel Broke Brockman and the author Jennifer Liza Grimm Eager.

This is how the event ran: the stream started on Sunday at 1:40 pm, but kick-off was only at 3:00 p.m. In the next few hours, the 4 influencer teams competed against each other until the Crocus team emerged as the winner. The event ended at 7:30 p.m.

The enthusiasm of the audience is also evident in the reactions on Twitter: Spectators thanked them to be able to watch football without a guilty conscience.

Incidentally, Fran area also collected €13,873 in donations. The streamer emphasized that she was primarily concerned with a fun event, she only briefly pointed out the donations in between. organizer defends herself against criticism

Was there criticism too? On November 21, the day after the event, Fran area was spoken of on various criticisms via Twitter. So some people would have liked to pursue the tournament, but did not have the opportunity on Sunday and then had to find that the GODS are only accessible to Subscribers from Fraternal.

However, the streamer gave the all-clear: this is by no means a kind of paywall, a video of the event should be uploaded to YouTube during the day and be accessible to everyone.

Freiaeimmerreh asked not to always suspect the worst, but also cleared her anger: the event took 7 hours that a lot of work had flowed in and nobody deserved it. She finds it disgusting that there are complaints because you couldn't watch it for free.

Also, allegations that she only organized the event for reach, the streamer decidedly returned that it was about human rights (via Twitter).

Overall, however, the football tournament was well received. Nevertheless, it will probably stay at a single event. According to Frame (via Twitter), the fitness of the influencers does not participate in an alternative for every single game day.

The World Cup in Qatar not only employs freedom. Some influencers had announced that they wanted to boycott the event. With the German streamer orangemorange, this had apparently not yet really arrived in October: he proudly announced that he wanted to travel to the World Cup in Qatar.
