Light out for Hyper Scape: Ubisoft's shooter was less than two years old
A few months ago, Ubisoft informed the fans of Hyper Scape that the Battle Royale shooter will soon be discontinued. Now the day has come when you switch off the server of the game.
Update from April 28th, 2022:
The multiplayer shooter Hyper Scape has reached its expiry date. Today Ubisoft pulls the connector and thus ends all network functions of the game.
At the beginning of the year, the game company already said that Hyper Scape would soon have to be said goodbye. And fans also sensed that the day would come earlier or later, after all, the online shooter had not been given any new updates for a long time.
Hyper Scape is one of over 90 games that Ubisoft has recently taken away from the network. For this, the company is working on new online games , as the recently announced Project Q.
Original message from 28.01.2022:
Hyper Scape soon offline
It was Ubisoft's answer to the Battle Royale shooters of other large game companies. However, while games like Call of Duty: Warzone continue to serve a high number of players with a new content, Hyper Scape had the breath a short time after publication. In April 2021, the free-to-play game received its last update and has been bobbing so since then.
Now Ubisoft makes short process and explains in a blog post that the servers will be down on April 28 . Specifically, it says:
“We made the difficult decision to end the development of Hyper Scape and stop the game from April 28th. We have decided to create a vertical, quick shooter experience with a melee character, and we are very grateful to our community that she accompanied us on our trip. We will incorporate the most important findings from this game into future products. ”
In a further paragraph, the developer thanks all players for their passion and commitment. (Source: Ubisoft)
Unfortunately only a small consolation for fans of the shooter. Ubisoft is already killing the next game after the game developer recently announced the setting of the multiplayer support for Watch Dogs: Legion- and after less than a year and a half .
no players, no spectators
At Hyper Scape, Ubisoft particularly emphasized vertical gameplay and a special Twitch component. Because spectators can significantly influence matches by voting on certain game world modifications, such as changing gravity or revealing enemies on the minimap.
It doesn't sound bad on paper. However, the shooter lacks an active player community and enough Twitch viewers to vote. (Source: Twish Metrics)
Perhaps this sad news leads to a last increase in player and spectator numbers before Hyper Scape is finally set.
