See the dilapidated locations of the real world of Horizon forbidden West in video comparison
As many know it now - especially if you played it - Horizon Forbidden West takes place in the real world, and it becomes quite specific. As the name suggests, Aloy's second adventure takes it to the western end of the United States of America, traveling from Utah to Nevada and California. Although it is obviously not a similar recreation, the developer Guerrilla Games has included many monuments, places and natural sites of the real world. The video above perfectly illustrates that.
Taking place in a distant future where civilization as we know it has disappeared, it is always fascinating to see famous buildings and other abandoned sites over time. If you live in the United States, you may recognize places like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Zion National Park, Pyramid Transamerica, Las Vegas monuments such as Paris and Bellagio hotels, and well. others. Even some less known places, like McWay Cove, Mono Lake and Utah Caverns are represented fairly faithfully in the game. It's impressive.
Horizon Zero Dawn was also filled with places in the real world, but Forbidden West definitely resembles a step forward in terms of number. Some landmarks are even explored in special quests or ancillary activities.
There are probably many more landmarks not shown in the above video. Have you spotted familiar sites at Horizon Forbidden West? Share in the comments section below, and if you are looking for help with the game, take a look at our extensive Horizon Forbidden West guide.
